• Emergency issues in general, i.e. strokes, heart attacks, repair of lacerations and casting fractures and sports injuries – neurological issues i.e. dementia Alzheimer Parkinson’s strokes, Nerve related illness i.e. neuropathy etc
• General psychiatry for instance in British Columbia the family physicians were trained to deal with about 98% of all psychiatric issues in British Columbia and given additional medical education due to lack of resources in the community.
• Orthopedics: sports or other injury related issues/workers compensation issues and injury on duty issues I had over 31 experience in the system doing this and filling in applicable forms and working with rehab teams on patients who were injured on duty.
• Cast and and immobilization and small orthopedic procedures donevunder local freezing in the office setting.
• Gynecology and obstetrics: following pregnant patients up until 20 weeks of pregnancy: as a rule, I do not deliver babies, unless in case of an emergency.
• In gynecology, we also were trying to do annual gynecological physicals i.e. braced, examinations, Pap smears, and female, genital, examinations, and diagnosis and treatments.
• Urology: we are very focused on preventative medicine i.e. as with our female patients – annual male physicals, including PSA blood testing in the office as well as annual digital rectal examinations as per guidelines recommended by the HPCSA to prevent and reduce the diagnosis of prostate cancer and prostate related issues, etc.
• General surgery: small surgical procedures that can be done under local freezing in the office setting and of course management of general surgical issues and referral to the surgeon if appropriate.
• Cardiology, cardiac related issues and working with Internist and cardiological Specialists, i.e. congestive heart failure, heart attacks and post heart attack treatments and other ischemic, heart disease or cardiac related issues
• Lung diseases: i.e. emphysema/COPD, Asthma, and other chronic pulmonary diseases.
• All pediatric related illnesses including ADHD or attention, deficit disorders, depression, anxiety, etc.
• Deontological, illness, diagnosing, and we also do appropriate plastic surgical procedures under local freezing in the office setting and received additional training in doing this.
• Rheumatological illnesses: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic, arthritis, and psoriasis
• Intro, articular, injections with local, freezing, and also treatment of back pain, neck, pain, headaches, which are all very common occurrences in family practice.
• Endocrinology: Diabetes, Thyroid issues, Hormonal imbalance issues and best practices of practices for i.e. sports related issues, high endurance, athletes, bodybuilders, etc.
